A story of a family that struggled with migration and settlement, and a young second-generation North Korean refugee born and raised in a third country who eventually ended up living in South Korea.
▪ Synopsis
DAYOON(22) lived in China for 21 years before coming to South Korea in August 2023. Now, she goes to an alternative school for North Korean refugees. Dayoon's dream is to go to college. That way, she wants to build a social foundation and settle down with her family.
Dayoon’s family has complex history.
Her mother moved twice: from North Korea to China and to South Korea. During her first migration She was deceived by a broker and was sold to Dayoon's biological father in China for a thousand dollars.
During her second migration, Dayoon and her sister had to choose a place to live. Dayoon chose to follow her mother to Korea and her sister chose to stay in China with her biological father. That's how families are lived.
