▪ Logline
The tragic suicide of a freelance Director at one of South Korea’s main broadcast companies sparks a fight for improved workers rights for contractors led by his brother and a historic court victory against one company. But will it change anything?
▪ Synopsis
PD Lee, a dedicated TV director at CJB, struggled with low pay and was fired after asking for a raise. After losing a court battle, he tragically took his own life. His brother continues the fight, winning a legal case that leads to new labor laws. The film reveals secret broadcaster recordings and follows the brother’s efforts to support workers, while the lawyer becomes a congressman. Despite protests, industry-wide change remains limited, raising questions about the movement’s long-term success.

Kang Hojun has produced and directed television programs and movies for over 25 years. In 2001, he directed Mother and Son (family reunion), which won him a special prize at the 6th Berlin Intl. Folklore Film Festival. In 2016, he directed the film Farming Boys which was invited to the Busan Intl. Film Festival. School of Rock directed in 2020 was broadcast on NHK world's Inside Lens, was invited to the Helsinki Intl. Educational Film Festival in 2021. |
