Global Pitching

Academy

Global Pitching Academy is a six-week training program. It is aiming at young Korean filmmakers interested in developing their documentary ideas and improving their skills as producer. The projects developed during the program will be unveiled during the pitching session of the K-DOCS. The winning teams will receive cash prizes ranging from 5 to 10 million KRW. Additionally, they will be invited to the Netherlands to participate in an advanced training during the Amsterdam International Documentary Film Festival.

Key dates and Deadlines
The application period begins on May 18(THU), 2023, at 17:00 (KST).
Deadline: June 25(SUN), 2023, 23:59 (KST)
Eligibility criteria
• Projects in early stage of development (less than 30 percent of the total production)
• Applying teams have to consist of two people: a young director and a young producer who have never pitched internationally and have completed one feature documentary only
• Applying teams have to be fluent in English and able to travel
How it works
Applications should be submitted ▷ Materials will be reviewed ▷ Finalists will be announced (June 28, 2023) ▷ Finalists attend the training program (June 30, 2023 ~ August 12, 2023) ▷ Attend 'Young Pitch' ▷ The winning team will participate in the international training session during IDFA in November ▷ A final report has to be written and submitted

Objective
•Create your project ideas•Mentoring with Korean documentary experts

•Developing and creating a trailer
•The projects are presented at Young PitchSupport
•Cash prizes: 10 million KRW for the best project 5 million KRW for the following best four teams
※The cash prize includes 3.3% tax and is paid within a month after the end of the program)

•The 5 winning teams will be invited to the international training program in the Netherlands
※Airfare, accommodation, training expenses and the IDFA badge will be covered for the participants.
※Detailed timetable, curriculum and mentors will be announced later.

③ Proposal (including synopsis, director’s note, treatment, 3 productions still photos, production schedule, budget and financial plan, filmographies of director and producer, max. 15 pages)

Selection
Process
Applications will be reviewed by a committee consisting of mentors and senior industrial professionals
(if necessary interview will be requested)
Notification
• Application materials will not be returned.
• Incomplete applications cannot be accepted.
• Finalists MUST attend the pitching event and the entire training program.
• Absence, interruption, or withdrawal are not allowed throughout the training. If not complying with this rule applicants may be restricted from applying for funds managed by the Ministry of Science and ICT in the future.
• The best program will be able to negotiate to be broadcasted on EBS.
• There might be changes depending on the current situation of COVID-19 guidelines.
