Sangeon, a young filmmaker, traces her grandfather’s anti-colonial music to find strength in a time of fear, discovering how his melodies offered resistance and solace, and might still echo in hers.

 

Synopsis


On December 2024, martial law was suddenly declared, Sangeon joined the public protests demanding the impeachment of President Yoon, for the first time in her life. Her grandfather, Hyungseok, was an independence fighter who composed military songs and staged plays, to sing of hope. In a time of deep despair, Hyungseok decided to act and resisted in every way he could. Living in her own times of fear and discouragement, Sangeon begins to realize the meaning of Hyungseok’s life and music.

Born in Busan, Sangeon grew up learning cinema through the Busan International Film Festival. She began making documentaries not out of a pursuit of truth, but from a curiosity about misunderstanding.
