94-year-old Byeongrae suffers from dementia and cancer. By her side are her daughter Sukhee and granddaughter Younglong. As the farewell draws near, the bond between the three women only grows stronger.

 

Synopsis


Noh Byeongrae, age 94, is nearing death. Though her body grows frail and her memory fades, Grandmother refuses to go to the hospital. Sukhee, the daughter who was rarely loved, and Younglong, her free-spirited granddaughter, willingly step up to care for her—but the endless demands of caregiving push them to the brink, and they eventually explode at each other. This is a raw, 100% real story of caregiving—where love and resentment, peace and exhaustion all coexist. Can the three of them reach the final chapter of Grandma’s life with a happy ending?

Director KIM Nayeon

She made her directorial debut with her first feature documentary Oksunlog (2023), which was screened at the EBS International Documentary Festival and the Jeonju International Film Festival. Driven by a desire to further explore the intimate lives of families caring for loved ones with dementia, she is now directing Our Happy End.

Producer PARK Jujin

Joined an independent documentary production company and participated in several documentaries. In 2024, Directed the documentary Bakers of Korea and is currently the co-president of N.J. Productions.

Producer LEE Donghan

Co-director of Oksoonlog and a former senior colleague of Nayeon’s. 

Lee has directed Boys and Bows, a story of rural school archers; Troublemakers, about so-called “delinquent” youth; and The Sea of the Finless Porpoise, focused on an endangered marine species. He has been involved since the early planning stages of Our Happy End, helping shape the project’s direction and intention.
