Synopsis

In 2017, I flew to Denmark to stay with the person I loved. And in the spring of the following year, I had an abortion. It's been some time since then, but there is still a lingering voice within me. I had to seek out people who have similar experiences and listen to what remains with them.

Director's Note

In July 2023: the Ministry of Health and Welfare investigated unregistered infants. During the probe, a woman confessed, "I wanted to have an abortion. But I couldn't tell anyone, so I gave birth alone and killed the baby right after. Because I broke up with my boyfriend and couldn't afford the budget". When abortion was illegal in South Korea, those who gave birth under such circumstances now stand in the world as perpetrators. In truth, I was the same. I have lived as if nothing happened, even to the closest person in my life. Personal memories and experiences may fade with time, but some memories are imprinted. Through my work, I aim to dig up these suppressed records and explore why the power that controls women's bodies has not changed and continues to isolate us for over a century.

	Jaewon coincidentally had the opportunity to intern at a documentary film festival in Denmark, which sparked her interest in documentary films. She got more curious about the voices of the world and eventually started filmmaking in 2022.		Somang Choi has worked in film production and film festivals, and she has distributed two documentaries. Currently, she serves as a short film festival programmer while conducting research and production.
