In 2016, after protest marches up to the Blue House were allowed for the first time during the demonstrations for President Park Geun-hye's impeachment, I suggested to my family that we move due to the vivid protest noise filling our home.
Synopsis
My family has lived in a house across from the Blue House, the presidential residence of South Korea, for 50 years. We have witnessed modern Korean history through our window, from military regimes to democracy. In 2016, after protest marches up to the Blue House were allowed for the first time during the impeachment demonstrations of President Park Geun-hye, we suffered from extreme noise. I suggested moving to my family, but they stubbornly refused. To understand them, I took a camera and delved into the history our family and house have built over the years.
Director's Statement
When faced with daunting challenges or uncertainties, it's easy to sink into despair and adopt a cynical attitude. I feared the future and believed I couldn't overcome hardships. Living in an age of uncertainty, rapid change became a constant. Through this film, I showcase resilience amid adversity, hoping to inspire others to find their own strength—just as I did.
