Synopsis

South Korean activist Shin Suk-ok, targeted by Japanese extremists over false claims, sought refuge in Germany to escape threats. Returning to Japan, she initiated a lawsuit not just for herself but as a societal duty. The documentary intertwines three generations of women navigating the complexities of Korean and Japanese histories amidst the drama of the courtroom.

Director’s Statement

After Korea's liberation, the country divided into North and South, developed economically, dismantled dictatorship, and became an advanced nation. Meanwhile, how did Korean-Japanese descendants live? Reflecting on the Shin Suk-ok family's life, abandoned by Korea, North Korea, and Japan, is crucial for understanding East Asian history. This documentary will serve as a warning to a world still grappling with enduring pain among various ethnicities.
