"Grandfather raised colorful breeze into my monochrome world.“
A magical story about a granddaughter following her oddball grandfather and recreating her own world of art.
Synopsis
I lost my own unique world after the excessive competition of the art school entrance examination. But my grandfather had his own world. He acquired disabilities after an industrial accident in 1991. However, he has been picking up discarded objects that resemble him and making them useful. He seems like an artist and a clue to getting my world back. Until one day, he gifted me rotten plum syrup… How should I embrace his world? At the end of this journey, can I recreate my own world?
Director's Statement
The director's grandfather was deemed useless after becoming disabled, but he protected his own world by collecting and reusing discarded items. The director reflects on the world through his grandfather's lens. By intertwining the director's world with his grandfather's, Colors of the Wind questions a society that forces individuals into endless competition and views the disabled as failures in survival. Through this process, the director gradually grows as an artist.
I am majoring in documentary to make a film that discovers the voice hidden in society. Based on my experience of learning fine art, I am creating my own film language. | Imagination allows us to endure in the present, so that we can move forward. As a producer of Colors of the Wind and director of The Silent Bride, I try to represent fantasy as a resistance against structural repression. | ||
